Diocese of Rochester

nfp is working with the Diocese of Rochester to help deliver its Chatham Town Centre project. At the centre of the project is the St John the Divine church, an iconic, gateway building in the heart of Chatham. The church has been closed for over twenty years and nfp is supporting the Diocese to secure significant new funding with its partners, to enable the restoration of the church and to reopen it, not only as a place of worship for the parish but also as a hub providing facilities for the local community.

The Boiler House

nfp carried out a strategic review for The Boiler House, resulting in a more effective management structure utilising the skills and experiences of existing staff.

The Boiler House is a charity that manages two community buildings in Hackney, offering various activities, courses, events, rehearsal space and general hire for local residents at affordable rates. It also delivers a variety of projects focussing on community engagement and development, with the aim of creating happier and healthier communities. nfp’s input came at a significant point in the evolution of The Boiler House as it was broadening its services to the local community.

Caddington & Slip End Community Trust

CaSE manages the public open spaces, play areas and community facilities at the Caddington Woods development, and also aims to deliver wider benefits to the communities of Caddington and Slip End.

nfp has been commissioned by CaSE to implement the strategy for a Heritage Greenway to provide an easy access, off road route for pedestrians, cyclists and, where possible, horse-riders. Linking local communities to each other, the Greenway celebrates its rural setting, which has high heritage, wildlife and landscape value.

The Streatham Common Co-operative (SCCoop)

SCCoop is a community run social enterprise managing services in the Streatham Rookery. The only community group with direct responsibility for managing a Lambeth Park, it also oversees projects to maintain and improve the Rookery.

nfp helped to manage the delivery of a Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) funded restoration project in the Rookery and assisted SCCoop with its business transformation project. SCCoop’s arrangement with the council was under review and the service put out to tender, which SCCoop duly secured. nfp’s work concluded with supporting the Board to implement a new staff structure and the appointment of a new Senior Manager, as well as the production of an evaluation report of the HLF funded restoration project within the Rookery.

Hardie Park

Hardie Park is a local community park and open green space in Stanford-le-Hope, Essex, owned and run by the Friends of Hardie Park (FoHP). A registered charity and Community Interest Company, FoHP’s charitable objective is a commitment to developing and enhancing the area for the benefit of the local community.

The Friends called upon nfp to support them with the development of their Nesta Funded Performing Parks project, resulting in the exchange of best practice among other parks in Essex that are stewarded or managed by the local community. The project has now concluded and a plan is in place with the local authority to strengthen the management of these parks over the next few years.

Brixton Windmill

Brixton Windmill is managed by the Friends of Windmill Gardens and is London’s last working windmill. Built in 1816, it fell into dereliction in the twentieth century but was restored and brought back into use by an HLF funded project delivered by Lambeth Council with the Friends of Windmill Gardens. nfp was asked to carry out a review of the charity’s operation, and assess the risks and benefits of expanding its structure to include a trading subsidiary, which it was recommended to postpone and re-assess as the operation evolved.
